Whether you’re a city driver, acknowledge global warming, enjoy saving money on gas, or just have a smidgen of common sense then you know that compact and efficient cars supercede asphalt crunching behemoths ala the Hummer. The oversized, gas-guzzling, roadkill causing machines that have crept their way into the hearts and egos of mostly Americans are by and large ignored overseas. Europeans have proven their practicality with the Smart car.

They are incredibly fuel efficient and even have an electric model that’s available. And if that wasn’t enough then take a look at the following video.

Those Europeans have truly set a new standard for safety. All Smart cars possess incredibly high safety ratings and that video does nothing but prove it. Also, as we saw the frame held up remarkably well given the fact that it had just collided with a concrete wall going 70 m.p.h. I believe it was the late, great Gorilla Monsoon who exclaimed “This is what happens when the unstoppable force meets the immovable object!”
