This story is a little fishy (hardy har har). A 1925 Bugatti Brescia Type 22 Roadster was recently dragged from the depths of Lake Maggiore in Switzerland. The car was abandoned by its owner, a Swiss/Polish arcitchect named Marco Schmuklerski, at the Swiss lakeside in 1936 and was eventually rolled into the water when the fees and taxes became too overbearing.

The Bugatti was discovered in 1967 by divers and for the next 40 years it was frequented by the local sub aqua club, Centro Sport Subacquei Salvataggio Ascona, CSSS. But when member, Damiano Tamagni was severely beaten and murdered by a gang of youths in February 2008, the idea to resurrect the car from the depths and auction it off for charity proved to be the most appropriate course of action.

Despite being rusted, inoperable, and filled with seaweed, this classic is expected to bring in between $100,000 and $130,000 at the Bonhams auction. Guess there’s always room for it in a museum!
