Remember ten years ago when you thought the 21st century would usher in a new era of super futuristic, high tech hover vehicles like those seen in The Jetsons or that movie, The Fifth Element? Well it’s already 2009 and you still see the same damn 1980 Fiat your grandma used to drive when you were a kid. Where are the sleak designs? The silent humming of super efficient, modern engines? The hovering? My god, where is the hovering?! Well, we’re not at the hovering stage yet but the Aptera 2 Series is supposedly right around the corner (currently available for pre-order to California residents) and not only offers a very sleak and attractive look but also an energy efficient build.
Some aspects of the Aptera 2 series include:
- Hybrid and hybrid/electric models ranging anywhere from $20,000 to $40,000
- Acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in less than 10 seconds
- Less is more with three wheels instead of the customary four
- Can accomodate the very tall
- The inability to sustain itself long enough to even be made available to the public:

Sigh…Maybe in another 100 years we’ll have hovering.

They been introducing this thing for 2 years now, don’t you think it’s time to get on with it or fold.
I agree. Maybe they can merge with some other company working at developing a vehicle that runs on electricity or alternative fuels. Fight the good fight, right?
